Fact is, Chris is out of work. Jobs are far and few between. The ones available are either required job postings companies to fulfil the EEOC requirement and someone on the inside is going to get a promotion...or has 500 applicants. With that being said, we don't have a lot of money so we chose this summer to be our beach summer. It's nearby, it's cheap and my legs look great tanned...or so I think. So it's what we do. Today my best friend, my boyfriend and I get up, pack up and head to Surfside. Last time I went was on my birthday, it was quiet and relaxing. I enjoyed watching pelicans dive-bomb fish and giant freigher ships sail from the Intercoastal Canal headed to some exotic land. NOT THIS TIME!
This is what I just don't get. There were a lot of people at the beach today. It looked like a parking lot at Christmas time...PACKED. But did a family of 50 have to freaking park a literal foot from Chris' bumper? Really!?! The entire family surrounded us. They infiltrated our space and stepped on Tiffany's towel. They threw a football right in front of me in the water so water and sand splashed in my face. I told them to move it on down the beach! How can sane human beings have such a blatent disrespect for other's areas? That's not the worst. There was a couple with their doggy on our left...only one car space in between us and those people managed to squeeze in two cars , a tent, and 45 people and three adorable dogs. I can't hate on dogs. Then they put their beach chairs and towels all around this couple, blocking their path to the beach. Really.
So I ask, when did teaching your children respect for others fall by the wayside? It called being nice. Being nice goes a long way. Kharma is a bitch. You reap what you sow. Remember those sayings? They weren't lying! It's for real. Try it today. Be nice. Open a door for someone, say thanks you and mean it, read you child a book instead of yelling at them. Being nice can begin a chain reaction of glorious niceness. Wouldn't it be great if everyone in the world was just a little bit nicer?
